Trump’s first trip as president will be to Los Angeles: Sources

(NewsNation) — President-elect Donald Trump’s first official trip of his second administration will be to visit Los Angeles areas devastated by wildfires, two sources confirmed to NewsNation.

Trump’s trip is scheduled for late next week, the sources said. The visit comes after deadly fires scorched hundreds of thousands of Southern California acres and killed at least 27 people.

Trump blasted California’s Democratic leadership, including Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, in the days following the blazes’ genesis.

Inauguration indoors: How does it work?

“One of the best and most beautiful parts of the United States of America is burning down to the ground,” Trump posted to Truth Social on Jan. 8. “It’s ashes, and Gavin Newscum should resign. This is all his fault!!!”

That same day, he said Newsom should have signed a declaration to pump additional water to California, despite local regulations limiting the amount of water that can be pumped from the the nearby Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

“Now the ultimate price is being paid. I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this,” Trump posted online. “On top of it all, no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes. A true disaster!”

Ramaswamy plans run for Ohio governor

The 47th president will be sworn in Monday indoors at the Capitol Rotunda, a change from the usual location at the west front of the Capitol due to bitter temperatures.

Newsom joined GOP governors in raising the flag to full height for Trump’s inauguration, The Associated Press reported.
