Oklahoma election results 2024
(NewsNation) — Oklahoma voters will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in some pivotal races in the 2024 general election.
Presidential race in Oklahoma
In addition to voting in the race for the White House between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Oklahoma residents will also be voting on various U.S. House races as well as two ballot measures, including one that involves non-citizen voting.
US House race in Oklahoma
Republican Rep. Kevin Hern, who has presented Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District since 2018, will face challenger Dennis Baker, who is of Euchee tribal descent and is a member of the Muscogee nation.
Republican Rep. Josh Brecheen, who was first elected in 2022, will face Brandon Wade in District 2. Fellow Republican Rep. Tom Cole (District 4) and Rep. Stephanie Bice (District 5) will also face contested races.
Oklahoma statewide ballot measures
Oklahoma voters will also consider a state constitutional amendment to prohibit non-U.S. citizens from voting in Oklahoma elections. Although no municipalities in Oklahoma currently allow non-citizens to vote, the constitution does not specifically outlaw it.
Polls close at 7 p.m. local time in Oklahoma, which holds seven electoral votes.
Oklahoma has been a Republican staple since 1948 and has only voted for one Democratic presidential election since. Trump defeated President Joe Biden in the state by 33 percentage points in 2020.
