(NewsNation) — Former President Donald Trump is projected to win a second term in the White House, but the outcomes of other hotly contested races remain unclear as election officials tally votes Wednesday.

Decision Desk HQ, which calls races for NewsNation, hadn’t yet projected the outcome of the presidential race in Arizona as of Wednesday morning.

The fates of several House and Senate seats were also uncertain as totals continued to roll in from precincts throughout the country.

Election officials publish unofficial results after the polls close on Election Day, but those results will fluctuate as officials count in-person, mail-in, provisional, overseas and military ballots.

Each state has its own rules for when different kinds of ballots can be counted.

Throughout election night and — in some states — several days later, unofficial results will periodically change to reflect those totals.

Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego, and Republican Kari Lake are competing for Arizona’s open Senate seat.

Green Party candidate Eduardo Quintana is also campaigning for the role.

Nevada

Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen is seeking reelection over Republican challenger Sam Brown. 

Pennsylvania

Republican David McCormick is challenging Democrat incumbent Sen. Bob Casey Jr. in a race that could influence which party controls the Senate.

Alaska

Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola, the first Alaskan Native woman to represent the state in Congress, is seeking reelection to Alaska’s only at-large congressional district. 

Peltola — who won her 2022 race against former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — faces Republican Eric Hafner, Democrat Nicholas “Nick” Begich and Alaskan Independence Party Rep. John Howe.

Arizona

Democratic Phoenix City Councilmember Yassamin Ansari faces political newcomers Republican Jeffrey Zink and Green Party candidate Alan Aversa.

California

California voters will elect 52 candidates to serve in the U.S. House.

Results of the state’s 13th, 16th, 22nd, 27th, 41st, 45th and 47th Congressional District races were still underway Wednesday morning. 

Colorado District 8

Democrat U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo faces Republican Gabe Evans in the race for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District.

Maine District 2

Republican Austin Theriault is challenging Democratic incumbent Rep. Jared Golden for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District seat.

New York

Republican U.S. Rep. Anthony D’Esposito faces Democrat Laura Gillen in the 4th Congressional District, and Republican U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro faces Democrat Josh Riley in the 19th District.

Oregon District 5

Republican U.S. Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Democrat Janelle Bynum are both campaigning for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District.

Washington

Democrat U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez faces Republican Joe Kent in the race for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District.
