Safety a concern for FBI agents targeted by Trump: Attorney

(NewsNation) — The FBI employees being targeted for working on Jan. 6 investigations face potentially greater danger if their names are publicly released, according to an attorney who represents government workers.

Mark Zaid says at the very least, FBI agents whom the Trump administration seeks to punish or fire must receive due process from the federal government.  Moreover, he’s worried about their safety.

“I’m concerned about FBI employees and their families from being doxed, ‘swatted,’ threatened, harassed,” Zaid told “Dan Abrams Live” on Monday. “We already saw one of the Proud Boys or Oath Keepers essentially threaten one of the FBI agents who worked on his case, saying that she should be prosecuted for all sorts of ridiculous matters.”

Disclosing the names of FBI employees would violate the Privacy Act, Zaid said.

Upon taking office for his second term last month, President Trump pardoned Jan. 6 defendants who stormed the U.S. Capitol in 2021 following his appearance at a “Stop the Steal” rally.
