Harris to speak on manufacturing in Pittsburgh
(NewsNation) — During another stop in Pittsburgh Wednesday, vice president and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is expected to talk about manufacturing.
Harris has been rolling out her economic policy at a number of campaign events. In Raleigh, North Carolina, Harris first introduced what she calls her opportunity economy. Then, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Harris talked about the importance of small businesses.
A senior campaign official tells NewsNation that the Harris campaign is seeing Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s edge on the economy eroding. When it comes to who would handle the economy better, Harris is leading Trump in some recent polls for the first time. In others, while Harris is still trailing Trump, she was able to close the gap that existed between him and President Joe Biden, who was the Democratic nominee before dropping out of the race this year.
In Pennsylvania, where Harris is speaking, Decision Desk HQ shows she has a 53% chance of winning compared to Trump’s 47%.
