Pro-Palestine protesters interrupt Biden fundraiser

(NewsNation) — A movement within the Democratic Party has been pushing back on President Joe Biden’s handling of one of the world’s biggest issues, the Israel-Hamas war.

Last night, Biden attended a star-studded mega fundraiser featuring former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton that raised an eye-popping $26 million.

Protesters inside Radio City Music Hall interrupted the event multiple times, calling for a cease-fire in Gaza. Hundreds of protesters also gathered outside.

Pro-Palestine protesters have interrupted official presidential events and Biden campaign events before in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, but the fundraiser was their biggest platform yet, with a sold-out crowd of thousands and more watching online.

Protesters showed their growing frustration toward Biden, interrupting while the three presidents were talking about Gaza, one yelling “blood on your hands” and another being dragged out as he said, “You’re out of your f—ing minds.”

Obama snapped back at one of the protesters, saying, “You can’t just talk, you have to listen.” But Biden said, as he has at other events, to let protesters talk and acknowledged the U.S. has to do more to get aid into Gaza, something he said he is working on.

Despite the interruptions, the event was a success for the Biden campaign, with Clinton and Obama praising Biden’s accomplishments in his first term and making the case for why he deserves another four years and why Trump does not.

“Can voters trust a presidential candidate who has not won a single Trump International Golf Club trophy?” moderator Stephen Colbert asked.

“I told him once before, when he came into the Oval (Office) before he got sworn in, I said, ‘I’ll give you three strokes if you carry your own bag,'” Biden responded.

Along with former presidents and Colbert, celebrities like Mindy Kaling and Lizzo attended the fundraiser, and Biden is following the event with a meeting with campaign donors today.

His campaign has also been touting the cash earned and the fundraising lead it holds over Trump.

Trump, who is facing growing legal fees, hit back with news of his own fundraiser coming up next Saturday at Mar-a-Lago. NewsNation confirmed with the Trump campaign that Trump’s team expects the event to raise $33 million, outpacing Biden’s recent success.
